2013 Corporate Responsibility
With more than 18 Unum-owned facilities in the U.S., U.K. and Ireland, buildings constitute a significant piece of our footprint, and managing their environmental efficiency is one of our priorities. While not all of our buildings meet the U.S. EPA Energy Star and the United States Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards for sustainable, energy efficient buildings, we use these as guidelines as we work to continue to make the places we work as environmentally responsible as possible.
From cleaning supplies to large electronics, the materials, products and equipment we use can have a significant impact. Our Environmental Purchasing Policy helps employees throughout our company make purchasing decisions that are both environmentally and economically responsible. The policy encourages:
