2013 Corporate Responsibility
Supporting programs and projects that help to educate and improve individual and community health and wellness is a natural extension of the work we do as a company. From raising awareness of the impact of disability to enhancing the quality of life for those struggling with health issues, we are proud to positively impact the well-being of our communities.
People throughout Unum are passionate about the causes they support. In the U.K., that passion is especially evident in the work employees do throughout the year to raise money for a national charity and three regional charities. Led by Charity Champions at each of our locations, our U.K. employees organize and participate in a variety of fundraising and awareness events. Employees in the U.K. selected Alzheimer's Society as the national charity for 2013. Alzheimer's Society is the leading support and research charity for people with dementia, their families and their caregivers, and works to improve the quality of life of people affected by dementia in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. In part from the support of the nearly £80,000 raised by Unum employees last year, the Society touched the lives of more than 30,000 people each week, providing them with a network of local services, along with practical support.
